Radish

Big Radish in the garden this morning!

Rosemary

Today the daycare babies and I worked on taking out the weeds from the area where I planted trailing rosemary last Spring.  The rosemary is surviving, but hasn't grown as much as I thought it would.  I'm hoping this Winter it starts to take off!

Some have the pretty flowers!

We made good progress!

But we had to stop when one of the babies
poured dirt down the back of my pants!

I can't wait to see if the Rosemary begins to flourish this Winter!
I may need to get another flat of it to plant.

Rocking Chair

So, after deciding to sand and paint the podium for the garden I wanted to try something different!  Not for the garden but for the inside of our home!  I bought an old rocking chair on clearance sale from a neat antique shop in Escondido.  I sanded it and used wood stain.  It was the first time I've ever used wood stain, so it is not perfect.

But I gave it to Oliver for Christmas and he loves it!  Santa even brought the chair pad for it!

Before.

After.

Things I want to remember for the next piece I work on:

-Choose something with flat edges, so I can learn how to work with wood stain better.
-Always have a cloth handy to wipe excess stain.  In some places it looks like there is too much stain on the chair.
-Figure out how to control the drips.  Oliver's chair has some drips!
-Test a different type of stain next time.  This one is really shiny.  I like it, but I would like to see what other types are like!

I really like working on little projects like this!

Mushrooms

Pretty mushrooms growing wild in my yard!

Tree

This tree is growing strong but will probably break the fence.  I like it though.
It offers a little bit of privacy...

I love trees.

Chainlink

Yesterday I planted more Morning Glory starters close to the chainlink fence that runs along my driveway.  Hopefully the weather helps them grow strong and it flourishes!  It would be really pretty to have the fence covered with Morning Glory!

This heavy axe thing has been there since I moved
in to my home.  I like to keep it there.  It looks kind of
antiqueish.

Rogue Sunflowers

There are sunflowers growing all over!  We didn't plant them!  We've even found some growing up on the road that runs alongside our home!

Here are just a few that are starting to stand tall:

Chloe

Chloe our bunny likes to eat a lot of the things we grow in the garden!  Today we fed her some radishes!

Leaves

Yesterday I took a video of the leaves falling.  They are so pretty.  My gardener comes twice a month, he came today and picked up a lot of leaves.  Two more bags worth of leaves have fallen since he left!

I love Autumn and I love my trees!

Leaves

The leaves are falling, falling, falling!  I've lived here for three leaf falling seasons.  This year, I've finally got it figured out!  I've been working hard raking, filling up bags, and watching more fall!  It helps that I can train my daycare babies to help me and that they are all at a age where we can spend lots of time outside!!!

There are four pecan trees in the front of my home and two on the side, so lots and lots of leaves!

I'm a little tired today!  I need to go stretch and get
ready for some more leaf collecting!
