Bernadette

Decorating the inside of my home is the same as gardening or decorating our yard.  So, here are some pictures of our room we are calling, Bernadette.  Oliver doesn't like the name.  It will grow on him.  I'll help him understand.

We need a rug in here and we are just going to keep filling it with fun meaningful stuff!  It will keep changing.  Five minutes after I took this picture I put an oval mirror I got at an estate sale in the right hand corner.

The desk is from a friend.  It fits perfectly in that space.
The room to the right is called, The Inspiration Room.
I'll put pictures later.

Its all a work in progress.

List for this room:
-Figure out how to take those dumb wine racks out.
-Get bookshelf from antique store.
-Put my collection of mini chairs throughout the two rooms.
-Gertrude Stein wall will go in The Inspiration Room.
- Get Rug.
-Take out gate to The Inspiration Room.

Sneak Peek

I'm trying to get Oliver's special present finished before Christmas!  Here is a sneak peek:

An old, falling apart park bench.
Its perfect, because I don't have to make it super
nice.  It just needs a little sanding and some paint!

I borrowed an electric sander, that makes it go
a lot faster!

It was nice being in my yard.  I get a little
sidetracked when I'm out there and start doing
other things.  Kind of like birdwalks.  Oh well.

Sneak peak!  Oliver said he likes blue, so I got
a funky blue to go with our orange podium!
I got some of the funky paint on the floor too, I
kind of like it, it livens up our garage!

Hopefully, Oliver will rest on this bench!

Keys

Oliver and our neighborhood friend, Mattias,
found the keys to our garden today!
So, so happy!

Planting

I finished planting some more in our fall/winter garden!  Yippie!  Now we just need more rain!  And a gardener who actually pulls weeds!
In Progress.

Lots of sunflowers growing in this little pocket
of our garden!

Moonflowers

Our painted tree with morning glory is doing alright.  Some of the leaves are starting to wilt, I wish I could water it more often, but its been difficult the past month and a half to keep up on the garden.

But when I looked up at the painted tree tonight, it was amazing!!  All the white at the top are the flowers that open up to the sun, now I get to see them at night too!!!

Planting

I put some bean, cucumber, and radish starters in the
ground this evening!  Yay, for Fall gardens!

Antique Shack

Today I went to the antique shack on Valley Parkway in Escondido, I think its called "Country Flowers."  I was looking for a unique Christmas gift for Oliver.  I saw a lot of neat things, saw the bookshelf I would like, a church pew bench that I have wanted and its price has been reduced and a creepy weepy spider!!!

Library Card Catalog?
This is neat and I have an idea for it,
along with something new from World Market
and a collection of old suitcases...someday.

Here is the spider.
What kind is it?  Is is poisonous?

I looked at this website, but can't seem
to find what it is.  I think it is harmless.
But is was scary...

The young store clerk and I took
about 10 minutes to come up with a
strategy to kill it.

Back to stuff, I like this bookcase.

And this one too.  I've had my eye on this one
for awhile.

Oliver first though!

More Fall Planting!

I planted a little bit more!  I have a lot of bagged soil left over and would like to use it up!

The collection on the left are the new starters!

From left to right: radish, sunflowers, carrot, yellow squash and zucchini.

The beans and cucumber are sprouting beautifully!

Maybe either next weekend or the following weekend, I will plant the plants
that are ready in the ground.

Fall Starters

Yippie!  I got a few Fall starters planted!  Now, I just need to remember to water them everyday!

Beets, spinach, cucumber, beans.

I hope I am able to keep up with my garden this year.  I'm going to follow my heart, dream what I want to see in the garden and JUST make it happen!

Summer Ending

Summer is a bit of a bummer in Escondido.
I like to conserve water and the heat is tough on the plants.  Our yard looks so sad and dry.
I like when our yard is beautiful, moist, and green.
Hopefully Fall weather comes soon!

We are getting out starters ready for all the Fall greens that we will try and grow in our garden!

I hope to get Oliver more involved with the planting and taking care of our yard.

Happy Fall Planting!

Cucumbers

I'm really proud of my cucumbers!

Garden Wrecker

Cooper, Oliver's Dog.
He is a garden wrecker.

But a lot of fun too play with!
I can forgive him.

Oliver's Deck

Here is the start of the container garden on Oliver's deck.  Since it is mostly shaded we have some shade plants there.  African Violets and pink polka dot something.

Sunflowers

Sunflower circle with some beans!

Morning Glory

I planted tons of morning glory around the painted tree.  Hopefully it lasts longer than last year!

The two flowers that appeared this morning!
So pretty!

Garden

Here is what my garden looked like this morning.

My favorite area.  Sunflowers, pumpkins,
grapes, and corn.

The beginning of my new herb garden.
I took a free herb workshop at Grangettos
in Encinitas on Saturday.  I learned a bit
and hope to attend more.

Identity

I don't know what this is.  I dug it up today.
I think its a bone.  I want to identify it!

Tomatoes

I didn't plant that many tomatoes this spring, thinking that I would have enough to harvest from three plants.  I was wrong.  I've hardly gotten any.  So next tomato planting time I'm going to plant a ton of starters and in a different area!  They need way more sun!

The ones that I have been able to eat have been delicious though!

Circle Planter

I planted some daisies next to those purple flowers.
I'm hoping they will grow strong and spread like the purple flowers.

Trunk

The trunk garden needs more color!
But everything gets eaten back in that corner or dies fast.

Blue Birds

Last year a blue bird nested in the yellow house.
I haven't seen any birds this year.
Maybe soon!

Converse Garden

We added some new Converse to our garden.

Spring Garden

Our spring garden is packed!  And we have even more to plant!
