List

  1. Fit in a weekly/daily water routine.  Possibly water at night?
  2. Fix the hose and put on the water sprayer attachment thing.
  3. Weed and replant around the painted tree.
  4. Get worm farm ready for Oliver.
  5. Plant jasmine along water can fence.
  6. Plant more lavender in the purple garden.
  7. Plant the flat of plants mom got for me yesterday.
  8. Look into getting a sign made for my garden.
  9. Figure out what to do with the wood pieces that have fallen off the playhouse.
  10. Clean out the composting area.
  11. Weed all garden beds.
  12. Plant flowers in at least one garden bed and see how they do.   Now observe them.
  13. Plant hanging plants.  Maybe get some from the Van Man at the Farmer's Market.
  14. Move all starters Friday afternoon/evening inside for the weekend.  Its going to rain a lot this weekend, make sure they don't drown.  Watch other new plantings outside!
  15. Put mulch around azaleas.

Wheelbarrow

I like azalea.  I need to get some mulch for it.
When we lived in Ohio we lived on
Azalea Blvd.  Hopefully the bushes do well in
this area.  It would be nice to fill up some of the
space around the wheelbarrow.

Four Queens

Four Queens Nursery is right down the street form El Plantio on HWY 78, close to my home.  It had everything I was looking for at cheap prices.  It felt like I was more in someones backyard, hopefully it doesn't become more commercialized because then the prices will probably go up.

Lantana, not sure what the middle one is called-research,
and Mexican Sage Bush.

A little creepy being on my own at this nursery.

This is my front yard.  These daisies started in a
gallon container a couple years ago.  I got some
more to plant in the back.  I want them to spread like these ones!
I will also try and cut a little from this one and plant in the back.

This is the plant I was looking for at the
nurseries.  Glad I found it at Four Queens.
I planted it in the back by the railroad ties
with the other two above.  Hopefully they
all flourish and I can make a pretty purple
flower garden.

El Pantio

This is a nursery near my home.  The prices were reasonable.  They didn't have everything I was looking for, but most of it.  The girl said they should be getting Venus Fly Traps in the summer.  Oliver really wants one!

I need to keep in mind that they have gardening
workshops.  I liked the last one I went to at
Grangettos.

Research needs.
I need to write down the name, I can't read
it from the picture.

Mexican Sage Brush.  I admire this plant whenever
I see it in people's yards on my runs.  I am
testing it out in the backyard near the railroad ties.

Journal

I brought this journal outside today to
write my thoughts.

See?  I also don't care if it gets
dirty, my hands were dirty from gardening when I
wrote in it today.  Oh well.

Hanging

I'm testing a hanging plant.  So far, not good.
It doesn't get enough sun there.  I need
to look for hanging plants that need part shade.

Kitchen Garden

I finally got my kitchen garden in place.  Its cute.  But, I'm not sure if there is enough sun in that area.  I need to keep my eye on it.  There are a lot of herbs planted there- lavender, basil, thyme, oregano, sage and strawberries.  A cute sign on the fence might be nice, maybe one that points to the backyard and has Follow My Heart Garden printed on it!

Rock Garden

I set some of the stuff we have been collecting for our rock garden out today.  It felt really good putting it out there!  Now, I just need to figure out the rock part!!!

I need to do something about the sandbox.
Thinking.

I'll probably move everything around again.
Especially when I get Oliver's input!

My gardener was able to put the plaque
on the bench.  I had a hard time trying to
screw it in.  I'm not good at things like that.

My water can/gas can garden.  I would like to make
this a bulb garden too.  We'll see if my hyacinths
come back up from last year!

Hopefully the future site of some
beautiful poetry readings.

I couldn't resist. Oliver's old rain
boots that he would never take off.
I need to put a plant in them!

My $5 Sun Wind chime from Major Market!
I kept singing this song when I was looking for
a place to hang it!  Here is another neat
video of the song.  Oliver loved singing
it with me when he was a baby.

Soil

Following my heart feels good.

No seeds yet, just soil.  And a two headed
sunflower to watch over them.

Ready for some seeds to be sown.

Goal

My goal for my week off for Presidents' Day is to spend some time following my heart in the garden.  I didn't get back there today...

But I think getting a bag of soil for my starters counts.
Kind of, maybe?

Tomorrow, I will get out there!
